Scientists warn that Mount Spurr, one of America’s most dangerous volcanoes, may erupt soon. Located 80 miles west of Anchorage, Alaska, it has shown signs of increased activity, with experts predicting an eruption within weeks or months.

Experts say Mount Spurr is displaying typical signs of an impending eruption, including seismic activity and volcanic gas emissions. “All four indicators are present,” says Matt Haney of the Alaska Volcano Observatory.

While the exact timing is unclear, scientists believe an eruption is likely. The volcano is currently on a Level Yellow alert, indicating increased unrest but no immediate danger.
